ABOUT HOBO
HOBO NATION
HOBO: One who wanders from place to place without a permanent home or means of livelihood, “a wanderer who is willing to work.”
HOBO Nation is a non-profit organization focused on helping homeless men and women through creating opportunities and resources for them. We sell products that are designed by artists who are homeless. In addition to compensating the artists, HOBO donates a portion of the proceeds to local organizations that are helping homeless people. We are a venue for artists who are homeless to present their art, sell their designs, and most importantly work.
HOW WE GOT STARTED
In 2007 Adam Biesecker took a Sunday school class of 9th graders he was teaching to Atlanta to serve meals with Church on the Street, a ministry that brings Church and Food to the homeless. He thought he was doing this to help the students he was teaching, but when he stepped off the bus and onto the lot to serve he found himself in the middle of a passion. After serving with Church on the Street for several years it became apparent to Adam that he wanted to do more than just serve meals.
In 2010, Adam connected with Wes Goswick and together they formed HOBO Nation. Mitch Pinion joined them and since that time HOBO NATION has been able to provide quarterly donations to ministries focused on helping homeless men and women get back to work and ultimately off the streets. HOBO Nation has taken part in many events, both small and large, in the role of an exhibitor selling items at our HOBO booth to drive funds towards our goal of employment for homeless, and in speaking roles sharing our passion for serving the homeless and serving in general. We have surrounded ourselves with some awesome and unusual artists who are homeless and given them the opportunity to not only financially benefit from their talents but also be used to help get others back to work. For the future we see a national alliance of HOBO NATION partners, resellers, and advocates who use this concept of Helping Others Bring Opportunity (HOBO) to their own backyards, generating funds to help with these very same efforts in their backyards. Please join us in growing and expanding The HOBO NATION, we truly need your help…
